first job, first paycheck
card application approved -
let the good times roll
----

stopping by the mall
can fin'lly get that new phone -
heady with new wealth
----
front of the counter
slice of plastic being swiped -
a rite of passage
----

needing comfort food
no cash, but i have plastic -
maybe just this once
----

card credit maxed out
needing to go out tonight -
need another card
----
marrying today
kept my box of cards secret -
something borrowed, blue
----

he keeps on calling
won't take no for an answer
demanding i pay
----

regret
didn't learn a thing about
compound interest
----

these debts overwhelm
online, i seek a way out
i am not alone
----

final payment made
twenty years in the making
finally i'm free

·  Wishing you the best
on your 25th birthday.
Did I get that right?
·  Years may come and go
but our friends and memories...
what was I saying?
·  Facebook told me that
it is your birthday today.
and they wouldn't lie.
·  Wow, it's your birthday
so let the wild rumpus start!
The boys can clean up.
·  It is your birthday!
Drop everything and have cake.
You don't have to share.
·  So it's your bithday.
That reminds me of a joke
about old people.
·  A haiku for you!
You could write a better one.
This one will have to do.
·  May this day be filled
with wonder and surprises.
But only good ones.

·  You are so much fun
they had to make your birthday
in the summertime.
·  Hope you're surrounded
by people and things you love
on your special day.
·  Thought you'd like to know
I think of you time to time.
Kind of like today!
·  I would sing for you
but the Birthday Song is still
under copyright.
·  Pause and reflect as
We take time to celebrate
The day of your birth.
·  So, it's your birthday!
Make sure you do something fun.
You won't feel so old.
·  Happiest Birthday!
I would offer to sing, but -
nobody wants that.
·  Wow! It's your birthday!
That reminds me of a joke
about old people.
·  Today is the day
we celebrate our dear friend.
At least for a while.
·  Happy Birthday, sis!
Don't forget to have some cake.
You can eat it, too.
·  Happy Birthday, friend!
May today's coffee be strong
and the day inspired.
·  You may not know this,
but I heard it's your birthday?
I sure hope it's true.

·         The wren
Earns his living
Noiselessly.

·         From time to time
The clouds give rest
To the moon-beholders.

·         Over-ripe sushi,
The Master
Is full of regret.

·         Consider me
As one who loved poetry
And persimmons.
In the cicada's cry
No sign can foretell
How soon it must die.
·         Blowing from the west
Fallen leaves gather
In the east.

·         Winter seclusion -
Listening, that evening,
To the rain in the mountain.

·         My life, -
How much more of it remains?
The night is brief.

·         An old silent pond...
A frog jumps into the pond,
splash! Silence again.

·         I kill an ant
and realize my three children
have been watching.

·         Over the wintry
forest, winds howl in rage
with no leaves to blow.

·         Sparrow's child
out of the way, out of the way!
the stallion's coming through

·         Toward those short trees
We saw a hawk descending
On a day in spring.

·         No one travels
Along this way but I,
This autumn evening.

·         Don’t weep, insects –
Lovers, stars themselves,
Must part.

·         In the twilight rain
these brilliant-hued hibiscus -
A lovely sunset

Crying so hard
Tears  coming down from her eyes
Drinking killed her mom
Lindsay
The rain is falling
No more chalk on the sidewalk
Outside it is wet
Hayley
Harsh, hurtful, mean words
Another heart is broken
You can hear the cries
Julia
It's really cold
It's colder than really cold
It is freezing cold
Nabil
Grass flowing slowly
The trees swaying in the breeze
The lake flows softly
Dayne

Shadows of the wind
Stars high in the midnight sky
Sunlight from the moon
Dayne

Adjectives falling
Talking about the apple
Crunchy, juicy, green
Tyler

Cold, hot, misty, warm
These words describe the weather
There are many more
Tyler

Those who came before
shall forever be with us,
always remembered.
Poetry and love
will fill your heart forever,
or rip it to shreds!
Children learn from us.
Teach them about ancestors.
Start a Family Tree!
